I do not know if ALL roan horses do this, but Mine DO!!!!!!!!When they are changing their coats ( winter to spring etc), my roan horses all turn white first!!

My roans always do that too. It seems that they shed out all the dark guard hairs first; I've noticed that my darkest horses always shed out first.
