It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that my mare "ROLYN ANGEL", lost her baby at birth, the filly was a very large foal, and momma had a hard time getting her delivered, and she was stillborn. Momma is doing well at this time, back out with her buddies in the broodmare band, and will be bred again, but not this year.

Sad News

Some sad news to share with you all, my blue mare, Goblin, had a spotaneous abortion of a set of twins on Feb 21, one of them had died a while back, and put an end to both of them, she is doing well, I gave her a shot of Oxytocin to make sure everything was cleaned out, as well as a shot of long acting Penicillin to make sure of no infection. Guess we will just have to try again this spring.

This morning, when I went to check the mares pasture, this is what I came across!!

One of the hoops in the tombstone feeder is broken and Chick had decided to help herself to the nice bits in the middle, nothing abnormal, I have seen her do this before, something her sire would have done in a NY moment!!!

I guess the best part of the bale is the middle???

This would be another of my 3 year old fillies, this is "Chick", she is, unfortunately, an orphan, and was a bottle baby. Seems to be filling out nicely though!!

Chick's dam passed from this world, approx 12 hours after foaling, and , if that was not enough of a loss, I also lost her sire, my buddy, only 3 weeks later, so we have a little bit of a soft spot for this girl. Her reg. name is: SNOOP N TWIGS LEGACY.

I actually got a day off work, so I can do some updating on my blog!!
Its back to the deep freeze again here, its 'warmed' up to -20C today, but when you take the 'breeze' into account, its probably more like -35C and its the middle of the afternoon!!!!!! Oh well, it will not last too long according to the weather guys, ( sure hope they know what they are talking about!!) We are almost throught the month of January already!!! Spring is not too far down the line now!!

An old prospector walks his tired old mule into a western town one day. He'd been out in the desert for about six months with out a drop of whiskey. He walked up to the first saloon he came to and tied his old mule to the hitching rail out front. As he stood there, brushing some of the dust from his face and his clothes, a young gunslinger walked out of the saloon with a gun in one hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other.

The young gunslinger looks at the old man and laughed, saying "Hey old man, have you ever danced?"

The old man looked up at the gunslinger and answered, "No, I never did, just never wanted to."

A crowd had gathered by this time, and the gunslinger said, "Well, you old fool, your'e gonna dance now," and started shooting at the old mans feet.

The old prospector was hopping around and everyone was laughing.

When the gunslinger fired his last bullet, he holsterd his gun, and turned to go back into the saloon.

The old prospector reached up on the mule, drew his shotgun, and pulled back on both hammers, making a double clicking sound. The gunslinger heard the sound and everything got quiet. The crowd watched as the gunslinger slowly turned around looking down both barrels of the shotgun.

The old man asked, "Did you ever kiss a mule's ass??"

The gunslinger swallowed hard and said, "No, but I've always wanted to"

The lessons from this story are:
1. Don't watse ammunition.
2. Don't mess with old people, there are reasons why they managed to get this old!!!
